Hello. I’m Matt and the organization I represent is called BLOCKS (Bitcoin Learning Outreach Creating Knowledgeable Students). I am a long time Business and Information Systems educator at a community college in San Antonio, Texas, USA.
I became interested in Bitcoin relatively late (fall 2022ish) but, like many others, the more I studied, the more I came to appreciate everything about it; The technology; The asset itself; The societal impact; The philosophical underpinnings; The real and potential domestic and international economic implications; And much more.
To that end.
I recently started a student club at my school (same name BLOCKS). Because of the quasi-governmental nature of my school (public, state funded, national accreditation, etc.) it has taken me the better part of the fall 2024 semester just to get the club approved and established - paperwork, paperwork, paperwork and then more paperwork. After school approval I began the real work - recruiting students and coming up with material to teach and things to do.
I was very thankful to find Mi Primer Bitcoin and find out that the focus of the organization is exactly what I was looking for in terms of Bitcoin education and community outreach. With little track record thus far I was thankful, and somewhat surprised, that our organizations Light Node application was approved. The ability to collaborate with an established, respected, international group like Mi Primer Bitcoin will provide unsurpassed opportunities for Bitcoin education here in South Texas - in the school club, on campus in general, and in the greater community.
After attending my first meeting (GA November 28 via Google) I am very optimistic about moving forward with the Mi Primer Bitcoin curriculum.
Please feel free to link up with me/us on X. It is a very new account began August 2024 but used daily and checked often. @blocks010309.
